I've heard when you take Lysine(amino-acid) it keeps your body from taking up another type of amino acid that the canker sore Herpes Virus'feeds on. It only works when you start early and take it every few hours or so. I try to watch the amount of protien i eat too. Once the sore forms it really takes on a life of it's own for me.
