Re: Intense Sugar Cravings

untitled

It is natural for addicts to have sugar cravings after they have withdrawn from alcohol. Alcoholism is a sign of a sugar handling disease called hypoglycemia.

The problem with alcoholics is that they have problems converting sugar into biological energy called ATP This energy is required to convert nutrients found in food into feel good neurotransmitters such as serotonin. The latter is a neurotransmitter that can make us feel happy and content.

Most alcoholics are found to be hypoglycemic as found in the four hour medical test for hypoglycemia.

You can also test yourself for hypoglycemia with the NBI.

Therefore it is essential that alcoholics treat their hypoglycemia by firstly adopting the Hypoglycemic Diet, as explained at our web site.

The sugar craving can be treated initially by taking Glycerine. Glycerine is sweetish tasting substance that is not metabolized via the pancreas, but is converted to glucose via the liver. Hence does not cause excess insulin secretion, that is responsible for mood swings. Thus by taking glycerine regularly the sugar carving should stop.

Pleased read Alcoholism is a Treatable Disease for a biochemical explanation of what causes alcoholism.

Following Nutritional Treatment most alcoholics benefit from a course in a self-help Psychotherapy, as explained at our web site.

The full program for the treatment of alcoholism has been explained in my book Getting Off The Hook, where you will find a summary at page 1.
