I would highly recommend she talk to a sympathetic natural health professional familiar with fasting for best recommendation.

I admire her willingness to try fasting, and would imagine it would be beneficial, done properly (juice fasting being ideal). However, if her mental condition is serious it would pay to get professional counsel.
