What about just a mild tranquilizer rather than complete sedation?

You could try Bach Flower Remedies... Rescue Remedy...starting a day or two in advance...repeatedly until the "Big Clip". Even put some in her water.

Maybe also give her some Valerian Root 1/2 or so too.
