My mother has seen a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She is supportive of my mother (who does not have health insurance) and is helping her secure medicaid. My mother worked in this country for years, caring for the elderly parents of very wealthy people. Some of the good karma has come back already in the form of a $5000 bonus from her last patient (who also has cancer). Anyway, my mother is waiting for her paperwork to come through. She is refusing to do chemo at the county hospital where she was misdiagnosed so MSK is trying to get the paperwork through. They will take patients without health insurance but only if that person's county hospital doesn't offer the same procedure. Makes sense except they're the ones responsible for my mom not being treated for so many years.
I watched the John Q movie yesterday. I was ummoved by the blatant Hillary propaganda but the father-son interaction was great. Can't lose with Robert Duvall and Denzel! Anyhoo... My mother has already accepted that fighting the good cancer fight costs money anyway you slice it.

My mother also went to see a consultant at Gary Null and Associates. I wasn't really impressed with the protocol. Typical cancer protocol BUT my mother doesn't have any ordinary cancer. The herbs and supplements are good ones and she spent $300. When I go to see her, I will be happy to post her protocol. The consult was free. The consult at MSK was $500 well worth it because I don't think the docs at the other place knew their a$$ from their elbow. The cancer is 'inoperable' and they want to do chemo to see if they can shrink it first.

My mother is in positive spirits most of the time. She DOES feel that she is ruining everyone's life by having this cancer. My sister has reported that she has said that she felt God was punishing her. I guess this is typical, the grief and saddness that hopefully gives way to positive thinking and hopeful spirits.
