Evening, Day 4: Detox

Another day, another detox symptom...

Well, apparently this is what they call detox. I read that the cleanse gets much easier after day 3, that people feel a burst of energy, they work out better, they sleep better...hmph. Just my luck that my detox involves insomnia, fatigue, and a poignant, bitter longing for tortilla chips and guacamole.

The good news is that I've pretty much got the drill down: wake up, flush (with my craving for salt, this is no problem), lemonades, a little exercise (today I walked part of my run, which helped), a nap, and then just life. Errands, chit chat, reading, etc. Strangely, my television isn't working right now (I live in a sublet apartment and the guy I rent from hasn't paid the bill...), but that isn't a big problem for me. I'm reading The Golden Compass (first installment of the series His Dark Materials). And there's always music and softball and all that.

I'm still having trouble with gas -- by the end of the day, my stomach is really jiving around. Not fun! I have to admit, though, that I've been -- how you say? -- frugal with the lax tea. I mean, I maybe have a few sips at bedtime and that's about it. I don't like stimulant laxatives, even if they're "natural." Not sure if I would have an easier time if I drank more of the tea... ah well. One day at a time. I'll try a little more tonight to see how that affects me.

Part of my general crankiness may have to do with my cycle: I'm expecting my period on Saturday. I didn't plan it this way, but I do hope that the cleanse works synergistically with the menstruation. You know: shedding linings all at once. I read that the cleanse helps with estrogen levels; of course, just reducing your fat cells would reduce your estrogen level, I think. Yes? Oh, who knows. I'm not a doctor, I just play one on the internet.

Naps and novels...come to think of it, not such a bad day.
