I'm 18, male. Been supplementing all necessary nutrients for the last 3+ months.
Few weeks ago I started on Iodine, I had already been taking Borax for the three month period. I was taking 1-5 mg of Iodine every day, and then I bought 100 grams of ACS grade potassium iodide, and bumped my dose up to about 200 mg per day.
My symptoms were horrible at lower doses of Iodine (I took a break before I started taking 200 mg). The emotional symptoms were really bad, and I had a lot of tight muscles.
Now, though, the emotions are totally controllable. I'm not in the *best* mood all the time, but it's nothing like it was before. I tighten up a little quicker than usual in my back and neck. I don't have much energy, I just sit around all day. I can eat a lot, no loss of appetite.
I take, every day:
-2.5 teaspoons of Sea Salt (dissolved in water sipped throughout the day)
-1,500-2,000 mg of calcium citrate malate
-600-1,200 mg of magnesium bisglycinate
-3,000 mg vitamin c (throughout the day)
-all other vitamins and minerals in regular amounts
Does this mean I'm near the end of my detox?
Can I bump my dose of Iodine up to 1,000 mg?

This is a reply to # 2,085,887Hey, thanks for the post. I can't help you unfortunately, since im kind of in the same boat as you, though im still at low doses.
Just a quick question, before you started Iodine at all did you have any emotional issues??
I just ask, because i am super up and down and feel depressed since i started taking this stuff. The days I dont take it, I feel great.

This is a reply to # 2,085,911Recommended salt is 1/2 to 1 tsp/day, so you might try that much.
Sea salt can contain traces of unwanted minerals, like arsenic, mercury, bromine etc., so practically pure salt as pickling salt has been recommended.

- Yes I would spike it up to 1 gram. If any detoxing left it should be gone within a few days, with a dose like that.
I would reduce the amount of calcium though; to half of what you take, maybe none at all for a while.- Re: andrewk3n

This is a reply to # 2,086,040Hey, excellent. I think I'll do that. I sometimes wake up with leg cramps though, so I do take quite a bit of calcium. Magnesium and potassium deficiencies have been ruled out.
I have read that excessive calcium supplementation can decrease the effectiveness of Iodine... maybe I'll lower it as much as I can.
It seems to take a lot for the chelation/excretion of NaF>CaF.
Do you know if it continues to take calcium even after all the fluoride is gone?- Re: Ginagirl

No, dont think so; magnesium deficiencies does not show up on tests (unless full cell ones). Only symptoms, like cramps show this deficiency.
Calcium does not reduce Iodine effects, but it can help the fluoride detox. I recommend boron instead; as it detox fluoride to some exctent, also regulate the magnesium- calcium.
Magnesium also help detox the fluoride, without it the calcium are rather useless:) Boron is the regulator.

This is a reply to # 2,086,055As I said, magnesium and potassium deficiencies have been ruled out. My potassium intake is 4.0g+ and magnesium 0.6g-1.0g pending the calcium intake (1:2 Mg:Ca). Also stated in my original post was the fact that I take Borax (sodium tetraborate), a salt of boric acid. Borax is about 11.3% boron by weight, therefore my intake of Boron is over 80 mg per day and has been for over three months.

This is a reply to # 2,086,106Intake and utilization are two different things. Magnesium was the most difficult for me to find out of, right type, amount etc. I took loads of borax myself.

This is a reply to # 2,086,127Magnesium Orotate / 775 mg tablet / 56 mg elemental Magnesium / 90-100% absorbable
Calcium Orotate / 745 mg tablet / 85 mg elemental Calcium / 90-100% absorbable
(Citrate being ~35%, Carbonate being ~15%)
So yes it's quite easy to calibrate doses of Mg and Ca with those two. I'm aware that Boron increases the usability of Mg and Ca, apparently by up to 50%. Vitamin D is taken alongside Calcium, also with vegetable powders containing a high amount of vitamin K throughout the day. Magnesium is taken with split up doses of vitamin C, and Calcium. After three months on 25g+ dried Chlorella, 20g+ Green Superfood, and 10g+ dried Wheatgrass every day, my digestive tract is quite clean for proper absorption. I also don't eat refined sugar, and don't drink alcohol. As you can see, absorption isn't really a variable here.- Re: Ginagirl

This is a reply to # 2,086,160How long did it take you for a full detox, and at what doses? What were the differences in your body that you noticed after the detox? Are there any other substances you know of for any type of detox? Aside from Borax, Iodine, Zeolite, Frankincense, MSM, Garlic..

This is a reply to # 2,085,887mate im very concerned with you ramping up the intake so quickly... take it easy, see and assess how you feel, take the co-factors... dont make a parmanent damage to yourself, i know many will blame me for such a "bad straight edge" advice, but dude i know you are doing this in order to fulfill your health dream... stick with 200 mg for 2 months, and increase 50 mg every other week.. until you get about 400 mg (which a guy called snakeater has taken) unless you have cancer or a serious disease, in that case i can not advice you... just do as you will, and care of your body, the way your mother had and G-d had over you both... take care shalom

This is a reply to # 2,086,169I want to detox as fast as safely possible. I'm not into gradual increases or "taking it easy", so long as it's not doing liver/kidney damage. Seeing that I'm perfectly healthy and have all the nutrients I need for kidney and liver health, along with doing salt pushes around the clock, I can probably handle quite a bit more than I'm taking now.
I tried 300 mg today, felt very lazy all day, little muscle tension, slight headaches in the back of my head due to muscle tension. Not too bad though. The danger of Iodine is that you flush too much Fluoride/Bromide into your kidneys at once.

This is a reply to # 2,085,887the beauty of Iodine is if you feel you have taken too much you simply stop taking it and regroup. start back up at a lower dosage if you want but dont wait more than two days.
there are no known permanent damage from doses at this level. in fact, tremendous accidental overdoses have occurred with a complete recovery. i really dont know how much would be lethal, but no one here has ever found that and you are well under. my highest dosage was five grams a day for two weeks straight. the old literature mentions ten gram doses. so if you take more than that and you die, i cannot say you will make a full recovery from that. i havent tried it to find out.- Re: High Doses of Iodine - Am I clos... andrewk3n

Let's assume that having Iodide in your body can be as common and as safe as chlorIDE. Then, what is the *real* limit you can take? Well, if we take potassium chloride, or sodium chloride, the limiting factor as to how much you can take is the metal, not the halide. e.g. potassium overdose comes long before chloride overdose. So, what is a hypothetical limit for potassium? Let's say 5 grams. In terms of KCl salt, that would be 4.5 grams of chloride. However, since iodine's atomic weight is so much more, the equivalent Iodide in KI would be 16.3 grams of iodide.
By my guess, if you got all your sodium,potassium, and magnesium in Iodide form, you could take about 30g a day.

This is a reply to # 2,086,209I don't get what your point is exactly... it wouldn't really make sense to take Na K and Mg in Iodide form, because you could take advantage and get, for instance, your required amount of other elements if you split them up and took (for example)
Potassium Iodide
Sodium Chloride
Magnesium Silicate
You could get all the Iodine you could possibly want from KI without really over-doing it on potassium.
KI is 75% Iodine and 25% potassium by weight, therefore you could take 20g for your daily potassium intake and end up with 15g of iodine... sufficient, if you ask me.- Re: High Doses of Iodine - Am I clos... genespleen

This is a reply to # 2,086,245My point was that, if the limiting factor was not the halide but the metal, then in theory, you could go to what is considered by many an insane level if iodide.
Your almost assuredly right that 15g of Iodide is enough. I'm just saying there could be room for more if the need required it.

This is a reply to # 2,086,191you would be surprised. the detox from bromine is harder the less Iodine you take.
my first year i sweated acid out of my forehead and into my eyes. oh my god did it sting. the next summer it was tolerable. now sweat does nothing when it gets into my eyes. and yes, it yellowed tshirts and socks.. now i dont stain anything and my sweat is sweet.- Re: High Doses of Iodine - Am I clos... andrewk3n
