After reading through the Garden of Life product catalog, I almost get the impression that I need to buy all the supplements to successfully do the diet. I realize you don't, but I'm not clear on what I actually need. Plus, I don't have the money to buy ALL of them, nor do I want to take that many things... the diet is already committing enough. I was hoping a few of you might be able to help.
Which supplements do you really need?
Anyone find any that are particularly helpful?

Primal Defense is worth it's weight in gold...if I could buy
only one...that would be it....it has helped the tummy
problem that I have battled for 4 years...could tell a
difference after one week...hot flashes totally gone...
will wipe out yeast...working on that now..but I can tell
a big difference (intestinal yeast)....arthritis is better...
just feel better in general. "Perfect Food" is good to keep
your blood Sugar level if you need to lose weight...you
can tell a difference from the first day....you can read up
on it on one of the websites or in the book....the book
itself is priceless as well as Jordans other book, Patient

I get SO overwhelmed when I read about all the supplements and it DOES seem like they're all beneficial (then I ask myself, why do the diet if I need all this too??). I have the Primal Defense but only take 1 a day (to keep down expenses) and I also use the multi vitamin which has some of the other products in it (lower levels of them- the mushroom one and the superfood green). I take 6 pills of the multi each day (9 is recommended). I also use the green superfood and superseed poweders once a week on my fasting day. I am satisfied with this regimen and try not to get frustrated with how it seems like I should be taking more and more and more!
The diet's the most important thing, right???!!!???!!!

We are in the 2nd week of Phase 1.
We are taking Super Seed, Perfect Food and the Living-Multi. We have the Cod liver oil and plan to start that this week. I also have the Clenzology and aromatherapy.
We do not have "health issues" according to our med drs.
I wasn't sure about Primal Defense so I did not purchase it.
We (husband and I) take the recommended dosage of Super Seed 2xs a day- it lasted 1 week. I only take 1 TBSP of the Perfect Food (smaller canister) each time/2xs a day - it has lasted longer. We take 6 Multi's per day - we will finish the bottle this week.
My question is:
after the 40 days - what supplements do we continue to use? I sure would like more info on this - like when would I use the Fruit supplement, etc, etc. I figure the Living Multi is an everyday thing

This is a reply to # 414,030bcharttch...do you have the book, The Maker's Diet? On page 227,
Jordan gives the daily regimen for days 29-40 and beyond.....
Phase three is the maintenance phase, so you would stick with
that...phase three also adds a few foods.
In the daily regimen, he also has supplement recommendations
for continuing on. Primal Defense is good if you have even mild
digestion problems, intestinal yeast (which most of us do),
parasites, (most of us do) :-/ and it is also a good detox,
and we are all filled with toxins to one extent or the other.
I, for one, think Jordan Rubin helped to hang the moon. A young man as ill as he was, given no hope, but through faith and
determination was able to not only turn his own health around,
but help thousands, and thousands of others turn "their" health
around. I've been to several doctors who couldn't help me...and
here's this "kid", younger than our own kids, whom I have never
even met in person, but by following "his" suggestions in the
book, was able to help myself. Praise God For Whom All Blessings

My wife and I take Primal Defense, Perfect Food, the cod liver oil (not necessarily the Garden of Life product) and the multi's.
We are both in excellent health, and eat alot of veggies with some protien. I take two perfect foods, 1 primal defense, and 1 multi a day. My wife does the same, except she uses the female multi.
We also have the Clenzology product. (I love this one).
We only cook with olive or coconut oils, and I keep walnut oil on hand for salad dressings. We also use flax seeds. Sprinkle them on salads and whatnot.
We are not rich by any means, but I make a decent living.
We both stopped taking the above regime last week, and boy did we notice the difference (We wanted to see if we could tell a difference - we could). Don't stop. Cheat every once in a while if you have to, but don't make a habit of it.
Yes, these supplements are expensive. They also work (for us, anyway). The supps are alot cheaper at Natural Health Shoppe. (No, I don't work for em, just like the prices). You may want to compare prices at other online dealers (esp if you buy yours locally in a store).

Am just starting to get into this "diet". I believe that the diet should - for the most part - stand on its own. The full diet protocol should be used for times of healing and the occasional, periodic "tune-up". Otherwise the "regular supplements" should be kept to the minimum daily regimen. That "minimum daily regimen" could (of course) change from individual to individual based upon their own particulars, but generally would include (IMHO) something like this:
1. Living Multi (or an equivalent VG multi such as from Shaklee)
2. Perfect Food
3. Super Seed
Additional supplements could then be used on an "as needed" basis or for that periodic tune-up.
Unless, of course, you have a lot more money that I have (which could readily be the case as I'm on a disability retirement).....

I went through all of this too. "AAAHHHH! I want them all! If they're all so good for you you should be able to survive on just the supplements, right?"
I so far am on Primal Defense, Perfect Food, Cod Liver Oil, Coconut oil, and Goatein IG.
Every supplement I've added has added wonderfully to my health. I can tell which supplements I've missed by how I feel.
I would say that the diet is THE most important thing.
***Check out Weston Price's website. It's got a plethora of research and diet info. Jordan Rubin based a lot of the MD principles on Weston Price's research, and seeing it for myself cleared up a lot of the 'whys' of the MD, plus it has so much more!***
If you choose any supp though, I so far would say that Primal Defense is a cornerstone of this program. i don't even want to go down from the detox level of 6 I've been at because it makes me feel so good. And that Cod Liver oil is such a miracle food why wouldn't you want to take it?
Perfect food leveled out my boyfriend's and my own hypoglycemia. It gives us energy and helps keep us cleaned out. Plus my boyfriend isn't a veggie eater so this helps him get his 5-10.
Goatein IG is wonderful for immune support. I didn't get sick even when my best friends, everyone at work and my boyfriend were all miserable. This is AMAZING for me because usually I catch something right away and have it for a few weeks. It's also wonderful for healing quickly. Both of us have noticed our muscles responding to exercise like never before.

This is a reply to # 414,119You're supposed to work you way up with the Primal Defense til you get to between 6 and 12 a day, depending on what you need. Then you stay at that high level for three months and wean yourself down to 3 or so. I'm sticking with 6. I don't know how much of the HSOs actually make it to my gut so I'm staying at 6 cause it can't hurt.
