Re: Monolaurin-Yikes!
Wow! Thanks for your post. I'm sure my dad had an allergic reaction to the Vaxa International dewormer...he hadn't had problems with the Barefoot's, or Sandra Cabot's, but when I had him start using the Vaxa (with the homeopathic's) he had the same allergic reaction to it as he has to aspirin. He hadn't made the connection that that's what had been causing the problems that week, and as soon as he told me what was going on, I had him stop the Vaxa right away, and everything went back to normal--I was thinking there might have been white willow bark or something in it that he had reacted to--now I understand that salicylic acid in aspirin, is also found in fruits/vegetables--and herbs :(
That's why it's also a good idea to start with a smaller dose of herbals to begin with, and increase them gradually. It's like I was reading in the article too about grapefruit slowing down the Phase 1 pathway- and causing the medicines etc to stay in the body longer--I like to listen to Dr Rosenfeld on Sunday am's...some of the medical stuff he talks about as being "recent studies have found" are goofy--and shortly after saying a recent study has found something, several weeks later he will talk about another recent study that has been done that disproves it...
Anyhow, this morning he was talking about grapefruit juice not being taken with certain medications--and I don't know where he got this at, but he said the affects of the grapefruit juice can last up to 4 days...but now, "they've" recently done another study that says to not take medication with any kind of fruit juice- because other kinds of fruit juices speed up the process, so the medicine taken with it is not as effective as it should be. He said it's only for a couple hours though..so if you drink any kind of fruit juice, don't take med's with it--and wait 2 hours in between before you do....BUT, it's ok to take them with coffee....so he says.... whatever. Coffee is one of the things that speeds up the phase 1.
He'll probably come back with something different next week--
The Alt Med Dr was telling me about a woman that got pregnant while taking birth control pills, and had been taking St John's Wort for depression--he told me that St John's Wort also speeds things up, and the altered the effectiveness of the birth control pills.
After I was reading about the grapefruit slowing down the phase 1 by as much as 30%-I wondered if that is why after a few weeks of
Wormwood , it should be taken with grapefruit juice for better absorption--
I remember Newport saying this:
>>>>>Also those using
Wormwood have to remember to drink grapefruit juice to allow absorbtion of
Wormwood past the initial 3 weeks.
