I take it that gold fillings aren't toxic in any way? I'm just curious - I'm sure they're lots better than mercury fillings. And the reasons may be obvious why I'm leery of traveling to Mexico - where in Mexico did you go? If it's pretty far into Mexico, traveling expenses might add up and there might not be much overall savings involved (of course, I say this having no real idea of how much gold onlays cost in the U.S.).
As far as getting Social Security disability - I've seen and heard sort-of conflicting things on this matter. My cousin had a pretty extensive work history (although not the most stable one - you should see his "resume", he has a long list of employers b/c he didn't stay at one job for very long) - as soon as he became too "ill" to work and sought psychiatric help (for the first time in his life, I believe), he was put on disability on his first try (for most people, it takes three tries to finally win disability - IF they win at all...). I have a very spotty work history - I've put in only two years of work in the almost 13 years since I left college, plus I have an extensive history of psychological/psychiatric treatment (dating back to age 14) - and I was turned down on my first two tries.
