I admire your optimism too, but perhaps not your rose-colored blinders which you use to read Snopes with and view the world behind.

Of course China and other countries have more freedom today - though I would hardly point to China and it's censored internet and prisons full of dissidents as a bastion of freedom.  We should expect the so-called freedoms and the standard of living of China and other countries to rise, even the third world countries, just as our freedoms and standards of living continue to fall.   It is called convergence and it is part an parcel of the world coming under the absolute control of the few who are served by as many as are needed to provide the goods and services for the elite.  Too bad about the "useless eaters" who won't be around because they take up resources that the elite figure as their right by birth.

Like I said, watch out for those tanks.
