After having a needle biopsy on a cold thyroid nodule, I was diagnosed with a follicular lesion. The only way to find out if it is cancer or not is to remove the nodule along with the thyroid lobe that it's attached to. If it tests positive for cancer, they will remove the whole thyroid and start me on medication. If it is negative, I've had surgery and lost half of my thyroid for nothing, as well as put myself at risk with surgery-related complications.
I don't want to do any of this, but I'd be risking it being cancer and spreading.
Has anyone had any experience with this and/or know of any alternatives to surgery?
