Re: Lightning flash

Hi:

I have had this happen to me on several occasions and I made an appointment with my eye doctor right away each time. I am female, 52 years old, highly myoptic with a family history of detached retina (mother and aunt).

My eye doctor checked me and told me one time that I had a migrane without the headache, although I did feel rather light headed most of the day. The last time that this happened was about a year ago and my eye doctor checked my eye and found out that my vitreous sac had shrunk and detached inside my eye which is a normal aging process.

Your problem could be one of these 2 situations. I know that it can be alarming when it happens and you should see your eye doctor and have it checked. If it is a detached retina, you need to have it operated on right away. My parents were vacationing in Florida when my mother's retina detached and there was no time to return home to Canada. She had to have emergency surgery in Orlando or she would have lost the sight in that eye.

Hope that there is a simple answer to your problem. I would make and appointment with an eye doctor just to be sure.

Anne
