You are mostly right. You can't expect anyone to please you or do what makes you feel good if not taught. You may love airplanes and want to please the instructor very much but if not shown or taught where things are and how to operate them, you can do your best and the results will be disasterous.(just an illustration, I know you don't have a relationship with the instructor)So as I stated earlier, communication is the key. If he doesn't take it or the other person stops trying, well, what then can be done?!
