Re: ear mites in cat

Yes I do ! My vet told me this one. Put mineral oil in the cats ears. It will smother the mites and kill them. Put several drops in the ear canal and massage the outside of the cat's ear to distribute the oil. It will loosen the mite's excretion. Take a ball of cotton and wipe out the crud ONLY where you can see. Do not stick the cotton ball down into the ear canal. Put more oil in there and keep using cotton. When you have all the crud cleaned out, add the oil again and leave it in there. Keep doing this routine for a few days and when there is not more crud, the mites should be gone. Check in every few days. Do not use a q-tip or any thing else to stick in the cat's ear. They HATE q-tips any way. You will probably need some one told hold the cat as soon as the cat finds out what you are used to. Set the cat on a pillow covered with a towel so the cat can dig into the pillow with it claws. Have some one hold the cat by the scruff of the neck. Only as hard as necessary..do not use excessive force.
