How this New Artwork came to be.
A New Intro Page to WORDS THAT MEN NEED TO KNOW
AND WOMEN WANT TO HEAR, THE SEVEN LOVE CURES.

Just finished creating a new Artwork
for WORDS THAT MEN NEED TO KNOW
AND WOMEN WANT TO HEAR.
This was inspired by taking a photo
of Alex Charish and Brad Bailey at the Whole Being Weekend,
a yearly experience in Cooperative Living that has been
going on since the early 70's.
Alex is a popular TV guest. She is an ergonomic expert.
She is known in the world of Fortune 100 Companies for her many
talents that include a striking ability to Problem Solve.
She is a noted inventor. Her latest passion can be viewed
on her website called Real Exercises for Real People.
At the Whole Being Weekend she was demonstrating
one of her gifts--techniques to strenghen the body
through doing what she has named "Sitdowns"
[I have to check if I got that word right}.
In her 45 second Presenters presentation,
she had another woman punch her in the stomach!
She was demonstrating the strength of her stomach muscles.
The demo left an impression on me to say the least!
This was one of the most difficult of Whole Being Weekends for me.
I have been going since 1982. I came into the weekend feeling really
knocked out by problems. I hardly had the energy to go, or
do the Friday night WBW Shabbat that I do each year.
Some of the problems I have been having feel so fast coming
and unresolvable to the point of nightmares!
Some problems deal with the Cleaning of the Basement at our community,
I am going through decades of notebooks and boxes as far back as materials
from the 60's! I am in quite a Life Review. I am seeing patterns of
incomplete. the scene in MAN OF LA MANCHA comes to mind
where Don Quixote, the Great Dreamer, is forced to look himself in the mirror.
He feels broken.
I have felt like Don Quixote looking in the mirror.
I can't say for sure how I came to interact with Alex.
The Hallmark of the Whole Being Weekend is Openness.
At one point Saturday Eve, Brad, Alex's Sweetie
was whispering YOUR CREATION into Alex's ear.
Alex was overcome with emotion. Tears were welling out of her eyes.
YOUR CREATION is the first in the series of WORDS THAT MEN NEED TO KNOW
and WOMEN WANT TO HEAR, THE SEVEN LOVE CURES.
Alex later told me that she had been wishing and dreaming to hear
certain words from her man! Her dream was fulfilled.
Brad said the words her Woman's Heart
deeply needed to hear. She was profoundly moved to the point of tears.
For me, the experience was what I was needing to see and feel.
I came to the weekend weary and exhausted. On a scale of 10,
my Self Esteem was near off the charts--and I do not mean UP off the Chart.
My incompletes hurt.
I am looking at gobs and gobs of the most beautiful writings
that represent decades of work, much inspired by a deep felt need
to uplift humanity as well as driven by feelings of NOT ENUF.
I am really not sure I have the energy to go through all these things
or get to the bottom of creating a new pattern.
Then, Alex came into my life.
So here is a lady that goes on 20/20 and invites other women interviewers
to punch her in the stomach. The woman I came to know--
that she invited me to see--revealed heights of the most tender of human emotions.
On Sunday, by the time the Closing Ceremony was complete
by Self Esteem rallied. It always does when I have an opportunity
to enter a Ceremonialist role.
[[I always hear my father's voice--the voice I grew up with in the Synagogue
when certain poems "cry" through me. In his heyday, my dad was
a Cantor. The Orthodox women in the Synagogue would Swuwn {sp?}
when he sang or blew the Shofar, the ram's horn.
He really knew how to touch God through his praying voice. ]]
The Closing Ceremony was over.
Alex and everyone were hugging and giving their
goodbyes after sharing in a profound Cathartic experience.
I came up to Alex and let her know what a very difficult weekend it had been
for me and how participating with her and Brad meant so very much to be.
I had my camera. We were all feeding each other grapes in the Closing.
I was inspired to take some photos of Alex, the most stunning of women.
I asked if she wanted to feed Brad grapes or have Brad feed her.
She wanted Brad to feed her.
I asked him to take off his T-shirt and lay down on my blanket.
Then he began the photo session by feeding Alex the grapes.
I started to take photos.
Then, I had Alex repeat the words of
MY GODDESS PRAYER FOR YOU.
Brad was lying on his back, and Alex was leaning close to him.
I was close to her head saying the words that she repeated.
Then, Brad repeated the words to SOUL MATES another of
THE SEVEN LOVE CURES.
I was taking photos throughout this experience.
The photos are very intimate and deep, filled with the depth of
feeling and heights of healing that are possible between a man and a woman.
Brad wanted to buy a set of THE SEVEN LOVE CURES.
He said the poems were of the calibre of a Rumi.
As I went through the photos today, I found one photo that felt safe enough
to use on a new page for the book. I called Alex. I sent it to her via Blackberry
and she gave me permission to use the photo.
Truly, I, and others in our energy field, were witness to the most Sacred of Human Emotions.
I wanted to be respectful of what I had witness. I would not want to
betray the trust that allowed me to participate in such a moment of deep healing.
A number of the photos are just for the eyes of the two lovers.
That's how the Image on the Artwork came to be.
Alex is the niece of famed artist Eva Hesse,
who in her short life created some amazing scultures.
Some it is said had the "Whiff of the erotic."
I see that in the genes.
