Localization vs. Globalization; Decide today!
Started my day with a few concrete things I wanted to put in place, including my Dr. Bronner Proposal, Building the Energy for the Enchanted Garden Rare Seed Outpost here, and the Training of a Personal Assistant. I got swept up into writing about Localizaiton vs Globalization on a broader scale. There are a few ideas here that I want to save. I have highlighted them. This is a very important weekend as well to call your representatives so that we can move in the direction of localization without oppressive Trade Laws that would block our Dreams from being planted.

GLOBALIZATION?
Globalization is epitomized by the efforts of a handful --N.O.T. who imagine it is O.K. to break the Moral ABCs of living within Nature's Original Technology (N.O.T.) They have reinvented a system that brings Food Safety, i.e. Economic Safety to them regardless of the consequences to the Well Being of the Earth, its indigenous history, or its multi-cultural C0-E-X-I-S-T future. All Living Beings of the Earth, including animal and plant life are intended together as ALL-ONE here knowing our choice is truly ALL-ONE or none.
Today is the day when each person is asked to speak up! Do you Support #FairTrade--everyone in the downline including all ocean life and organically growing plant material thriving , or will we allow Free Trade, as epitomized by the moves to pass global Trade Partnership Agreements. to continue to enslave our dreams?

DIANE FEINSTEIN
Diane Feinstein's office is 202-224-3841. Ask her to please change her vote. She is a co-sponsor of the Boxer GMO Labeling bill but TPP will not allow any GMO labeling. She is an environmental champion and TPP will endanger all the work we’ve done for decades. She is putting Americans out of work and we don’t trust that the Republicans will pass any kind of real help for displaced workers. Ask her to please please change her vote and stand with people instead of corporations that want to sue tax payers.
Emergency Rallies- Her vote is so important that we are having emergency rallies on Monday at each of her offices. Sorry for the short notice but we just heard about the vote late yesterday and are trying to get things organized.

Thanks for all you do. I don’t know where this will end up or what the next steps are. I might have to keep sending out these frantic action alerts until the end of July.
DARK-
In the meantime…we are being told that DARK is gaining traction in the House. There was a farce of a subcommittee meeting yesterday in addition to the Fast Track vote. We believe it goes next to the Ag Committee. The Senate is coming up with a companion bill. Both Boxer and Feinstein are against DARK so no need to work on them for now. But if you find time to call your House reps, please do so and urge them to vote no on DARK and start educating their staff.
USDA
If you still have any energy left, the USDA is revisiting the ways in which they regulate GMOs. . Submit comments by Monday, June 22. Please include references if possible and talk about specifics related to regulating seeds, not labeling. Please comment here. Thanks!!

Tell the USDA to develop new regulations that protect farmers, the public, and the environment.
We need stronger, mandatory regulations immediately. Voluntary, non-regulatory approaches alone won't do. Companies that develop GE crops should not be left to regulate their own products.
The USDA must fill existing regulatory holes:
GE crop owners and users must help prevent contamination. Why should those at risk of contamination -- including the organic community -- shoulder the burden of prevention, testing, and losses alone? New regulations should mandate contamination prevention protocols.
Independent analyses of potential impacts resulting from GE crops are long overdue. We need ongoing oversight that is more comprehensive and coordinated, and that is based on rigorous, independent, and pre- and post-commercialization assessments of economic, environmental, health, social, and other impacts.
Stronger experimental field trial oversight is needed. Current policies and oversight are woefully inadequate for preventing and identifying contamination events at the experimental field trial stage. There must be more transparency, monitoring, and restrictions on outdoor experiments.
We need a fair compensation mechanism to support those harmed by contamination. Companies that patent, promote, and profit from GE crops should be responsible for covering losses in cases of contamination.
The USDA should halt the approval of new GE crops at least until new regulations that adequately protect farmers, the public, and the environment are implemented. Remember, comments are due June 22. Make your voice heard today!
