Spirit:Women's Dis-orders "Vitaminut" posted the question: What is the spiritual significance of endometriosis and ovarian cysts? Spirits discusses these and other women's "dis-orders" such as menstrual irregularity, pain, ovarian and uterine cancer, infertility... Spirit: Dear One, yes, you are right, the answer is different for every woman. We will answer "generically" so you may post this. If "vitaminut" has a specific question as pertains to self, then this can be asked in an e-mail to you. Ovarian cysts have to do with faulty hormonal flow--a "blockage" in the body if you will. This blockage can be biological in nature or have a spiritual basis to it. In some women it has to do with an area of genetic predisposition, a "weakness" if you will, passed down genetically, as is the case with you and your sister; it has to do with improper hormonal functioning. Some women may benefit from nutritional changes/supplementation, as in your case, to restore a more normal hormonal pattern. In some women, it has to do with self-image, body-image, discomfort with being women. Yes, sometimes it has to do with residual past-life energies of torture, rape, genital mutilation where the "energetics" were so strongly coupled with severe emotional trauma that some of these energies "lingered" and came into this lifetime with that woman's current embodiment. In cases such as these an energy worker may be able to "clear" these energies from the energetic field of the individual to promote healing. As you like to say, Liora, there is no "one size fits all" treatment as each woman's discomfort has a different etiology, or cause, and therefore each may benefit from a different mode of healing. We are concerned with the Western approach of surgery which may benefit the woman temporarily, but if the underlying energetic/spiritual/emotional causes are not cleared the problem may resume. Women are meant to enjoy, be comfortable, love their femaleness, their biological bodies. As you are well aware, in societies that do not truly value the feminine energies, the Goddess energies, if you will, oftentimes women in those societies as a group suffer these dis-orders of their body-physical--menstrual irregularities, pain, dysmenorhea (menstrual pain), ovarian cysts/ruptures, ovarian/uterine cancers, endometriosis, infertility, and the like. It has to do with the women not being allowed to "birth" themselves--express themselves fully in all their wonderous female beauty--body-form as well as function, meaning creativity and wholeness of expression whatever that expression may be. Women often carry fear in their wombs--fear of rape, male aggression, dominance, destruction. This relates to your own fears, yes, why for so many years you manifested menstrual irregularities and pain--it went along with your own disdain of the female body and your own discomfort of being a woman. This is not to say that every woman experiencing these dis-orders has fear or disdain for being a woman, a Spirit BEing in a female body; yet again, it can be so for some women, and some women have brought the energetics of this from past lives. Some men also carry this disdain for the female body from their past lives when they were in a female body. This may manifest as self-hatred, hatred/disdain for their own feminine energies, homophobia, hatred/disdain for women or may lead to violent action against women or men they perceive as having "feminine" attributes. It is a way for such men to annihilate the feminine within themselves--again, most often this is "brought in" from a past life experience of having been a woman and having experienced torture, rape, mutilation of the female form. As to endometriosis--the spiritual/energetic reasons can be similar to that of other female/women's dis-orders, yet there is a difference that sometimes has to do with childbirth. A difficulty with pregnancy, childbirth, or abortion in a past life can energetically carry over into the current life. In endometriosis there is a "displacement" of the uterine lining in the woman's body where it should not be--the soul is trying to "grow" uteruses in places not biologically feasible in order to generate new life. Perhaps in a past life the woman experienced death of the fetus in utero, or experienced a loss at birth of infant death, or abortion-either spontaneous or elected. This is not to say that abortion itself caused the ensuing difficulties in this lifetime, please understand, as we are very aware of the controversies around this issue in your current political/spiritual climate--this is NOT a judgment against the women who have undergone/experienced voluntary abortion--it is to say the energetics, the grief, loss, fear, pain experienced by the woman can carry over into the current lifetime as an energy pattern, once again needing to be cleared.
