Stage 4: Fast #2 (January 2, 2007)

Going in for another 20 days, starting tomorrow.

Reasons are the same as the last time: A clearer mind, detoxing...but the biggest reason is that I need to be able to get back into those skinny pants I had! I loved the feeling of being confident and stylish in my clothes. I want that feeling back, fast.

Look, I don't even know if I put on that much weight since the last fast ended. I haven't eat *that* much to be honest - just huge meals once per day, as per the warrior diet. I was averaging 3-eliminations throughout the day, proving that I was getting rid of the food from the day before.

I must have put on something though cause I feel all this bloating around my tummy - from all the sugary treats and alcohol over the holidays and some of pants feel tighter around the butt area. Not much harm done though!

And of course I haven't weighed myself out of fear. That must sound somewhat psychopathic to some of you, but I do have a phobia of the scale and the high numbers do give me a guilt/paranoia complex that takes a few days to shake off.

So, maybe some of you wondered why I'm starting the fast tomorrow as opposed to today? Well, New Years Eve got me out to a couple dinner parties in a row where I ate some pretty rich stuff, including meat and desserts and pastries, so I thought to take today out to eat some light foods to move the heavy stuff out of my bowels.

I started with a meal of carrot salad and basmati rice and will eat another small meal of just carrot salad later on. Feels good to eat that kind of stuff, so much cleaner and less of a bloated feeling. Can't wait for the fast to start tomorrow though - especially can't wait for the first three days to be over, cause those are always the hardest.

Well, on the eve before my fast I'm going over some thoughts on what my post-fast diet will look like in light of mistakes I made this time around. I learned a lot this time around, actually. Certain foods I thought were tops actually contributed to my downfall. Rice, for example, has proven to be very difficult for me to digest so the last package of Basmati is getting ready to head to Grandma's house, cause she loves a good pilaf every now and then. Sugar is another killer - that, plus starchy carbs like rice give me crazy cravings for more. So my post-fast will not include those things this time around.

The first three days post fast will be veg soups, followed by three days of veg stews, like the kind I made last time around. Another mistake I won't be repeating is consuming dairy of any kind, eventhough I love feta with my salads. I may love it but I've since considered the cruelty we inflict on these animals in taking their milk from their young ones.

I will have a 'free day' as originally planned, the day when I head to Grandma's house. The rest of the days will be veggies, fruits, and proteins like tahini and fish. That's what I'm planning so far. And a raw lifestyle is definitely on the agenda, except for really cold days when I want something warm, like a veggie stew with rye crackers.

As far as a weight loss goal, I won't weigh myself until Day 11 Post Fast, February 1st. I chose to do it this way because I don't want to see ultra low numbers following the fast, only to see them climb rapidly.

I would love it if that weight was under 140 pounds or 62 kilos. That would mean a net loss since the end of the last fast. I'm sure it will drop though. Estimating by how I feel I'm thinking my weight right now is about 145-148 pounds, so an eight pound loss in 20 days of fasting is totally attainable.
