day 3 of 3 week water fast

You will achieve grand dream, a day at a time, so set goals for each day / not long and difficult projects, but chores that will take you, step by step, toward your rainbow. Write them down, if you must, but limit your list so that you won't have to drag today's undone matters into tomorrow. Remember that you cannot build your pyramid in twenty-four hours. Be patient. Never allow your day to become so cluttered that you neglect your most important goal / to do the best you can, enjoy this day, and rest satisfied with what you have accomplished

9pm

I would like to share a chapter from a book with you. Its title is "April 11".

Our Lord is constantly takng us into the dark in order to tell us something. It may be the darkness of a home where bereavement has drawn the blings; the DARKNESS OF A LONELY AND DESOLATE LIFE, IN WHICH SOME ILLNESS HAS CUT US OFF FROM THE LIGHT AND THE ACTIVITY OF LIFE; or the darkness of some crushing sorrow and disappointment.

It is there He tells us His secrets--great and wonderful, eternal and infinite. He causes our eyes, blinded by the glare of things on earth, to behold the Heavenly constrllations. And our ears suddenly detect even the whisper of His voice, which has been so often drowned out by the turmoil of earth's loud cries.

Yet these revelations always come with a CORRESPONDING RESPONSIBILITY:"What I tell you....speak in the daylight....proclaim from the roofs.: We are not to linger in the darkness or stay in the closet. Soon we will be summoned to take our position in the turmoil and the storms of life. And when that moment comes, we are to speak and proclaim what we have learnt.

This gives new mearning to suffering. The saddest part of which is often the apparent feeling of uselessness it causes. We tend to think, "How useless I Am! What am I doing thit is making a difference to others? Why is the expensive perfume of my soul being wasted?" These are the desperate cries of the sufferer, but God has a purpose in all of it. He takes His children to higher levels of fellowship so that they may hear Him speaking "face to face, as a man speaks with his friend" and then deliver the messsage to those at the foot of the mountain. Were the 40 days Moses spent oon the mountains wasted? What about the time Elijah spent on Mt Horeb or the years Paul spent in Arabia?

There is no shortcut to a life. We must have periods of lonely meditation and fellowship with God. Our souls must have times of fellowship with Him ont he mountain and experience valleys of quiet rest in the shadow of a great rock. We must spend some nights beneath the stars, when darkness has covered the things of earth, silenced the noise of human life, and expanded our view, revealing the infinite and the eternal. All these are as absolutely essential as food is for our bodies.

Some hearts, like evening primroses, open more beautifully in the shadows of life.

Pretty isn't it?

Fasting

I observe through my many short fasts over the last few months a progressive improvement, not just physically but emotionally. I attribute most of the emotional growth to the unforseen host of events that I was tossed in. I am quieter inside and more at peace. I used to walk past things without noticing a thing. Now, I walk past things without missing a thing. In fact, I enjoy pausing and ravelling in the mysterious fluff when I can afford some time, even writing my blog. It imbues a sense of direction and provides a period of silence and solitude. I realize that during my fast, instead of focusing on the goals, I should not think about them too much, but keep God in my prayers, focus on the "now" and discover myself as I progress. There is an absolute no need to rush.

Studies

My exam is in 8 days and though it can easily become a huge source of stress, I will turn it around and let it be a playground of fun learning. I will likewise focus less on the goals (A for finals), but keep God in my prayers, focus on the facts right in front of me and discover the ingenuity of the body. Like how the quote goes, what is the most important goal of each day is to do my best, enjoy each day and rest satisfied with what I have accomplished. I will continue to be diligent till after the exams, even if this means a huge sacrifice of sleep. There is absolute no point in rushing out of stress now, lest the result is worse than it could be if it were not rushed. Stay as steady as possible. Keep my spirits high. Don't give up.
