The morning was okay. I was feeling pretty good as today was going to be the start of my Water fast. I know that I ate the day before, but today was the day to start my water fast. Hopefully it will be a 14 day or longer fast.
I can't say that I was happy about the whole day, it being the one day where I feel out of place and left out. I really fought during the morning not to text Phil and wish him a Happy Valentine's Day. He has always been against the day, as he believes it shouldn't be the only day that someone shows love. I believe that too, but it is also a wonderful day to express how you feel too. He never got me anything from Valentine's Day, but I still have two Valentine's Day cards that Travis got me when we were together. It is funny that it is the only guy to get me a card for that day. I also dug them out of my older Bible (the one that I don't use anymore) to look at them, but I didn't as it would just add to the heartache I was feeling.
I slept good and I laid in bed a bit longer then I normally would have, since I wasn't eating solid foods any longer, as I am official on my water fast, and still trying to overcome the “Three day” failure. I know that I ate several times on Sunday, so if I do fail today, at least I will cut it down to only one meal, which will make it easier for me to maintain (hopefully!) Since I didn't have to pack a lunch or eat a breakfast, I laid in bed a bit longer and read my newest book I got. It was a Birthday present to myself from my father, as he sent me $50.00 and I broke down and bought it
I walked Goodwill for a bit. I found two pairs of pants that I liked and I tried them one. One was a size and the other was a size 4, but it seems much bigger then a 4. I tried them both on. I liked them both as they both fit. I was really surprised that the size 4 fit. I found a lovely part of Gucci brown loafers that I could add to my wardrobe, as my other loafers are getting older and the tread is getting really worn down. Yes, I said Gucci! I looked them online to see how much they would originally cost. The looked very close to the Damo Horsebit loafer, as they did have the horsebit dangle in front of the shoe. They are $385.00 at Saks Fifth Avenue brand new. The shoes that I bought showed very little wear, as they didn't look like they had been worn very much. The tread was excellent on them. Very very clean. I used to sell shoes at my 2nd job, so I know what too look for. I got them for only $2.99! I think that is the best buy I have had in year, since I bought a pair of Borns, which looked brand new for only $2.99. Those shoes were like $80.00, because I used to sell ones like it. I went over to Odd Lots, with the hopes of finding a hula hoop, which I have been wanting for a couple weeks now. As I walked in, I asked a clerk if they had hula hoops in yet. She said there was a whole box of them in the back by the toy section. I was so excited and rushed off to that area. I checked the whole toy section, but didn't see them, as I was leaving, I told the lady, I didn't see them. She then told me they were in the corner in a box by the yard tents. I went back again, and I was just looking at them, then the lady came back to see if I found them. I did. There were two difference sizes, which I didn't realize that I would have to choose from. I picked the larger of the one, as I would get a better work out with it then the smaller one.
I have to say that I felt the store feeling great, since I got my hula hoop. Yay!When I got home, I was so excited about using my hula hoop, but I didn't use it right away. I ended up doing some dishes, while I danced in place. I listened to:
Freedom by George Michael 6.29 minutes (dancing in place while doing dishes)
Take a picture by Filter – 5:59 minutes (dancing in place while doing dishes)
I was keeping my abs tight and moving my hips to the music while I did my dishes, by the end of the song by Filter, I was really moving around. I end up dancing for another 11 minutes to the following songs:
Jump by House of Pain - 3.29 minutes
Space Jam Theme by Quad City DJs – 4.58 minutes (really upbeat!)
Black Betty by Ram Jam - 3.54 minutes ( I found myself shadow boxing like I had learned on Tae Bo)
By the end of Black Betty, I focused on shadow boxing during the song Strangers in Moscow by Michael Jackson. That lasted 5:44 minutes. I then moved to some floor exercises. I alternated abdominal crunches and pelvic thrusts (which I found out later are called supine bridge exercises) to the the song, Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson for 4:37 minutes. I was really getting tired and I decided to hula hoop for the entire song, Notorious by Duran Duran, which was 3:52 minutes. So you can say that I exercised for about 36.62 minutes (23:29 minutes spend dancing and 13:33 minutes spend actually exercising: shadow boxing, abdominal crunches, pelvic thrusts and hula hooping.)
I enjoyed hula hooping and fighting with myself to keep the hoop going as long as I could. I haven't hula hooped in ages (probably since I was a child) Mekong was very leery about watching me with the rattling hula hoop as I used in the living room, but she was still curious what I was so excited about. LOL I am going to try and hula hoop a little bit everyday if I can.
I was a little anxious to see what my measurements were since I have been feeling so very strong and healthy. I guess it would be good to take them at the beginning of a water fast (for “before” and “after” numbers.) I had just exercised and I was cooling down and going to take a hot shower. I just took my measurements down and decide to compare them later once I posted them in my blog entry. I knew when I took them there was a change, so I was very excited about that. I think the wonderful thing about weight loss and fitness, is that a person can see the change in his/her body, so that is why I keeping track of my changes. It makes me more excited when I can see them for myself. Yay!
These were my measurements on January 26, 2011
At the navel: 32.5 inches
Narrowest at the waist: 31.5 inches
Widest at the hips: 35.5 inches
My neck: 12.5 inches
The Navy body fat formula says that I have a fat percentage of 30.45%
The YMCA formula says that I have a fat percentage of 36.85%
My measurements on February 14, 2011 (Twenty days later)
At the navel: 32 inches
Narrowest at the waist: 30.5 inches
Widest at the hips: 35 inches
My neck: 13 inches
The Navy body fat formula says that I have a fat percentage of 27.82%
The YMCA formula says that I have a fat percentage of 35.24.%
I lost a half (½) inch off my hips, a half (½) inch at my navel and one (1) inch from my waist! It seems that I gained a half (½) inch in my neck, which is weird, but I do remember how willowy my neck seemed the last month or so. That is a 2.63% difference by the Navy body fat standard and 1.61% difference by the YMCA standard. I feel that is great! LOL I know that it isn't much, but it STILL is a change even in 20 days, which means that I am toning muscle and burning fat, even if it is just a little at a time.
I wonder if eating fish and beans, plus the little bit of exercise has been helping wheedle away the fat. What is really funny, is that I haven't seen my weight go down any, which doesn't bug me, but it makes me wonder that I could be burning fat, without losing weight. I must be losing fat but gaining muscle, which is a good thing, I think.
I found this that might be a little bit of help. It is one the the ways to track your weight loss progress. I never knew this.
“That doesn't mean the scale is useless. In fact, it's a wonderful tool when you combine it with your body fat percentage. Knowing both of these numbers will tell you whether you're losing the right kind of weight...fat. Simply multiply your weight by your body fat percentage. For example, a person who weighs 150 lbs with 21% body fat has 31 lbs of fat and 118 lbs of lean tissue (150 x .21 = 31.5 lbs of fat, 150 - 31.5 = 118 lean tissue). Keeping track of these numbers on a weekly or monthly basis will help you see what you're losing and/or what you're gaining.”
So I weigh 129 times (x)the body fat of .27 (I just cut off the .82 from 27.82, as I used the Navy Body fat standard) which equals 34.83 pounds of fat. So, at 129 pounds and subtracting 34.83, I have 94.17 pounds of lean tissue. Wow! I learned something new
I got ready for bit a little bit earlier then normal, but I did that so I wouldn't be tempted to eat anymore then I have. So that I could really start my water fast over again starting at 12:45. I spend the rest of the time reading and watching the last movie, since I have to return them tomorrow.
