Did these people not come from mainstream medicine?  If the doctors who apply mainstream medicine and those who perform tests and analysis do not represent mainstream medicine, who does?

If such a doctor had made a different diagosis and then applied mainstream medicine to Chris and been successful, should we then not chalk that up as a victory for mainstream medicine, since doctors do not represent mainstream medicine, and count it instead as a success only for the doctor?  Or do doctors only represent mainstream medicine when they get it right?

Or does it only count when mainstream medicine is correct? In which case, if the doctor had given Chris only 6 months to live and Chris had not turned to alernative natural healing and had perished on schedule, we could then conclude that it was yet another successful diagnosis by mainstream medicine and a validation of their practices since the patient died just as they predicted he would?
