Epsom Salts, Liver flushing 'thinks & thoughts'...Re: You've Made Great Progress!

Regarding the use of Epsom Salts (and other 'thinks & thoughts')

First rule of truly natural healing (one of many "first rules" :::grin:::)  There is never a need to compromise or harm one part of the body to heal another part of the body.

From a past post:

Is there any potential for harm in ingesting Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate)? Yes.  (I've always wanted to compile this information, so now is a great time to do it and 'get it in print'):

--Because magnesium is removed from the body solely by the kidneys, if the kidneys are compromised some level of hypermagnesemia (too much magnesium) is possible (it's actually possible with NO "kidney compromise, if the amount ingestedis high).  Hypermagnesemia is an electrolyte imbalance of abnormally high levels of magnesium - symptoms are weakness, nausea, diaphoresis (sweating), facial flushing, hypotension (low blood pressure), impaired breathing, depressed reflexes, hypothermia (lowered body temperature), vomiting, hypocalcemia (too little calcium) which can cause reduced heart rate, cardiac arrhythmia, or at it's total extreme, asystole (flat-lining, no heartbeat).

Who has "kidney compromise" at varying levels? - it is typical reported:
--blood flow through the kidneys decreases by 10% per decade after age 30
--by age 75, the kidneys weigh 10-25% less than when we were young
--by age 80, the kidneys' ability to filter waste has decreased by 50%

So, that means unless we've done a thorough kidney cleanse & regular maintenance cleansing (as well as "full body upkeep"), and we're under 30 and in great health, we all have some level of kidney compromise. So we're all going to experience some level of hypermagnesemia when taking Epsom Salts (or any other magnesium supplement).

These symptoms will disappear based on 'how much was taken' and the kidneys ability to remove the magnesium and rebalance the electrolytes.

From the site ehealthme.com (premium membership is required for this in-depth level of searching) - we have a compilation from the actual adverse reports made to the FDA regarding Epsom Salts below.  Since very few layman have any idea that one can & should file an 'adverse effect report' to the FDA, it is likely the vast majority of these were reported by medical professionals (these could also include IVs).

The FDA "officially" tells us that only 1 in 100 actual adverse-effects are ever reported, so we can multiply these reports by at least 100.

On Jul, 19, 2010: 6,642 people who reported to have side effects when using Magnesium Sulfate are studied

'Sound like the side-effects of a pharmaceutical drug? Yes it does. Minerals isolated away from their natural phytochemicals and co-factors are NOT natural to the body; ingested in 'therapeutic amounts' they ALWAYS cause some level of stress or imbalance (which is virtually impossible to do with natural food).

Those that are allopathically trained and then 'see the light' (Dr. Hays, Dr. Gerson, etc) - have a propensity for using these substances and thinking of them as "natural". It is for this reason, I haven't included Gerson's handful of unnatural supplements when I combined the protocols....

Other issues with Epsom Salts:

Because they pull water from the bloodstream and into the intestinal tract:
--this further imbalances electrolytes
--it causes dehydration
--it causes diarrhea, which furthers dehydration.
--if the intestinal tract is compromised, this harsh diarrhea can worsen the compromise.

First physician, do no harm

For every liver flush I suggest people do consistent 'prep work' the week before, do the 5-day cleanse (at least a few times), have found the liver & gallbladder reflexology points and know how to work them, and have a CE brewed and 'at the ready' in case a need to use it 'overnight' would present itself (since I always suggest 2 CE's the day following the flush, having one already brewed & ready is something most people do before drinking the oil/citrus anyway).   Of course, for those that have used ES in the past, doing a flush without ES is a bit disconcernting (I know this from experience, as I was totally conditioned to "know" that without ES, liver flushing was 'dangerous')...so if one wants to have one dose and/or have a dose 'mixed and at the ready', that's certainly an option.

Dr. Schulze flushed thousands of livers (many with cancer tumors & other 'major' liver blockages/cirrhosis), and never once used Epsom Salts...and no one ever dealt with a 'stuck stone'.  Dr. Gerson did not use liver flushing at all (but of course, 4-5 CE's daily for months on end is going to dislodge & dissolve all but the calcified stones...and even those may be dislodged & expelled as the liver continues to heal and have adequate bile flow).

Dr. Schulze allows folks to 'choose their own juice' in the 5-day liver cleanse (or use 'seasonal' fruit), but I disagree.  The juice should always be apple.  (And of course, the daily ACV Bomb, which includes 1 T of ACV 3x daily is also very beneficial for the malic acid that softens stones).  This 5-day cleanse (which includes the morning flush drink

Remember, on the IP, liver week culminates with a liver flush...that means we're doing serious work and prepping on the liver for 5 days prior to the flush.  And the herbal support is solid and very beneficial.

Regarding the experiences of 'past flushes' and using them as a gauge for future flushes: ~!~ What is the BEST liver flush? LIVER FLUSH 101  (I'm not saying that we shouldn't listen to our doctor within and pay close attention to what we've experienced in the past).  However, flushes done "cold" with only ES and apple juice are very different from prepping the liver with daily CE's, castor oil packs, foot reflexology and strong herbal/chologague support.

For consideration regarding this: >>> Among the 13 liver flushes I've done, I did one where I didn't do the Apple Juice prep. I did use epsom salts though. But I had pain in my liver for a few days after the flush, I think from expelling a large stone that was not softened, since I omitted the prep. <<<

There's quite a few possible causes for pain/tenderness after a flush (your theory is certainly valid).   The first thing that comes to mind is a stone/s being dislodged in the liver from one place and moving forward 'toward the exit door', but ending up in a tighter biliary duct (that wasn't previously 'stretched' to fit the stone).  If you've ever had a boil you may have experienced something like this: sometimes when they 'break' after being swollen for long periods of time, there is pain & tenderness from the tissue 'deflating' so rapidly. Another possibility is liver flukes.  I envision the tails of the flukes hanging down from the wall of the biliary ducts like the "curtain made of strips of canvas" at the end of a car wash.  Flushing a lot of debris into those tails can sometimes cause a temporary 'clog of stones' that will take a few days after the flush to resolve.  Of course, there are other possibilities...as well as options for softening stones.  Gold Coin Grass is excellent; I've read Chance Piedra is as well, but I've never used it myself.

I recommend (in the absence of ES) to do two CE's the day after a flush.  One after your 'wake-up' bowel movement, and another  around later afternoon (or after supper).  If my liver feels 'worked over' the day after a flush, a castor oil pack is like a 'soft healing pillow'...it's gentle & soothing "liver TLC"  :)

Healthiest of blessings,

Uny
