ABSTRACT
THIS IS THE "PLOT."
This plot of land is where
this plot is intended to be planted.
Life is a Rock Your Soul Opera.
We have choice to continue as we are.
"Take One" of the Rock Your Soul Opera
is taking most of us down.
For 18 months now,
I was raising a red flag.
We needed to redefine Real Food Safety.
Since October I have been bonding
with other leaders around the US
in a call to Chew on Food Safety
A National Conversation is needed.
The lastest loss of awareness of Real Food Safety
played out in early January 2011
when our USDA, following in the leadership
of our president, gave away alfalfa--
the father of all foods as it has been called--
to GE engineering. Within a matter of years
if there is not a massive re education,
we will have lost the integrity of our seeds
and the ability
of seeds to remind us how our dreams grow.
This massive loss of seed integrity,
called me out the other day to go
City Farmers Nursery, a nearby local
Beet Keeper sponsor and buy a pound
of organic alfalfa seed to plant.
This very catastrophe
drives me now to express again
the Vision and Mission of the land where
I have lived since 1982.
THANK YOU
I want to thank those I live with here now,
and those I will live with here in the future
for striving to discover their own path,
and for allowing me the grace to live in a natural
environment as I write these words.
I do not anticipate that everyone I live with now
or with will come to live here, will have time to
act on these principles,
but because you choose to live here with me
as you work out your own destiny,
perhaps the world will one day find more and more
people who aspire to turn their own beat around with nature.
TAKE TWO
There needs to be a place
where somehow, someway,
in light of "Take One" so prevalent in the world,
we can do a "Take Two."
This land is one of those places.
TAKE ONE
This Plant Your Dream Blog
points out Take One,
and encourages each of us to
turn our own beat around with nature
through joining the Enchanted Garden Club.
To join the Enchanted Garden Club
asks us each to become again the Beet Keeper--
a Beat Keeper of nature--
in this historic moment when
the Rock Your Soul Opera is
being played out.
SHIFT HAS HAPPENED
One way or another,
a shift has happened.
I can feel it.
Our souls are being rocked one way
or another.
Life as we know it is different now.
The question is,
how will we hold our ground?
I am seeking out now, a recommitment
in myself and others who hear this call
to come together to find a way to live
together here.
PRINCIPLES
We can begin to grow some of our food
and support the local farmers growing the rest of our food.
This is the kind of Moment of Awakening
that is asked now of the human race.
To live here means you enjoy eating good food,
healthy food.
A moment of awakening can happen,
simply by growing one beet in a pot
in a Portable Mini Garden. We can grow
other things in pots too,
as we once again link our destiny
to the how fast a dream can grow
when it is growing in sync with the beat of nature.
How fast can a dream grow?
As Fast as a blade of grass.

We have a new housemate anticipated for May 1.
Is it you? We also have a possible openings for our
live in household that may open up for March or April 2011.
We want to encourage you to get to know the property as it is now
and can be. We are in transition into a more refined community
structure that aims to have numbers of people sharing in the
management responsibilities.
My name is Leslie Goldman, AKA Your Enchanted Gardener.
I have been a vision carrier on this land since 1982.
I accepted the managers role around 1987 when the
land was about to be sold.
I am transitioning out of the management role.
I want to continue to live here in my role as elder
and as a guide for the Enchanted Garden.
New energy is needed that is now seeking to
develop a plan for management that will take us
into the future.
Does the Vision--the overarching
"plot" speak to you?

Is this a place where you might add to the experience that
can come from living with others in a shared household experience?
The earth has shifted.
Can we adapt through catching hold
of what is being asked of us?

WHAT IS THE PLAN?
TO CREATE A HOME
A PEACEFUL SPACE
To Co-create a home,
a peaceful space that borders a canyon
in San Diego.
To go beyond what we have brought with us
from centuries of upbringing.
To end the war here that rages
everywhere.
Through learning the baby steps--
how to live together.
To put down our swords and stingers,
to accept our innocence
as well as learn from our shared experiences.
To do this,
that the world might see how this is done
by our example.
Through eating food together.
To Sup from a greater vision,
to seek to see the greater vision, although it may not
be our cup of tea or favorite brew.
To accept that our rents,
and our sweat equity
is planting something bigger,
in the midst of faulty lumber,
and walls that ask for painting,
and the pain we bring with us
that asks to be transformed
through interaction with
the Enchanted Garden,
in all that may come to mean for us.

1000 years from now,
we have choice to look back
on this moment
as an important time when
humanity rose up to say
"Take Two!"
LOOK AT TAKE ONE
Look at Take One,
Pre-The Enchanted Garden Era:
We failed to adapt to the beat of nature.
We were deaf to the Drumbeat.
Many in Government took a wrong turn,
Hope remained that a
Campaign to Educate Washington on
Real Food Safety might rise up
if a Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food
began. We can to accept that
this transformation needed to
begin in our own backyard.
To this end, we came home,
to allow a home to exist;
to help co-create a home and a garden as best we could;
to accept our unique and individual
paths in the world, and the responsibilities
of making ends meet through doing our
work.
TAKE ONE
Agribusiness trumped agriculture.
Seeds vaults of biodiversity were being sold off.
Science no longer knew its nature,
and government, listening to it,
was giving away our grasses and grains,
the foundation of civilization.
Health reform
no longer had a foundation in balanced living.
Patterns of wholeness intended to emanate
from micro-nutients, no longer were the
bottomline for growing foods,
or the foundation of a three square meals.
We had lost the beat.
We needed to hear the beat.
TAKE TWO
We have choice 1000 years
from now to look back and say
the world experienced 1000 years of peace.
THE PLAN
We need to join the
Enchanted Garden Intention Community
now.
THE ENCHANTED GARDEN
IS A NAME FOR OUR RENEWED
EARTH THAT WE CAN EACH GROW
ONE SEED AT A TIME, ONE DREAM AT A TIME
The Enchanted Garden is a metaphor.
It is a name for our renewed earth.
It is also a metaphor for consciousness,
one unbroken wholeness in flowing movement.
The Enchanted Garden comes down to earth
through planting, so plant your dream.
Reconnect your dream with living plants.
Do what it takes to make a home through
working with mop heads, and decluttering,
and letting go of what no longer serves us
as we do our best to remember
how to live together.
THE ENCHANTED GARDEN
INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
These aspire to be the Beet Keepers.
They are global. They are local.
They are grounded in having a single pot
with something growing.
The Enchanted Garden
grows through individuals joining the
Enchanted Garden Club, and making
contribution, financial and through barter,
to invest in the future that is possible.
GROWING GROUNDS
We need to support Growing Grounds
for the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community,
places were individuals come together,
as they are and with what they bring
to find ways to explore Cooperative Living
between themselves and the Earth.
These growing grounds
are places a continuation of
The Great Experiment,
as named so by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely,
who imagined we could adapt to nature
rather than ask nature to adapt to us.
Szekely inspired the idea of growing food
in pots.
WE NEED TO BECOME MICRO-FARMERS
A nation of gardeners:
This is what is asked of us.
Enter Plant Parenthood today.
Discover and remember plant metaphors,
as much as computer metaphors.

There is a place in San Diego,
located within walking distance
of a state of the art trolley station
and a university of 35,000,
and nearby a canyon,
the home of cayotes,
and skunk, and possum,
where people are being called
to hear the beat of nature.
FOUNDATION PRINCIPLES
THE PLANT and THE SOUL, and the SOIL
The plant has always been the way shower
for humanity. We are no healthier than
our plants. Our plants can be no healhier
that our soil. Soil is the womblike substance,
when fertile, that is intended to connect
soul and earth.
The Earth and the Soul are soilmates.
IT IS FOR THIS REASON...
THAT WE TAKE A STAND HERE
It is for this reason that we take a stand here
on 1/3 acre of land on Arosa Street
within walking distance of San Diego State University
to proclaim that The Beet Lives here.
A beet, first growing in a pot,
is a metaphor for the beat of nature.
We can turn the beat around.
We simply have to.
A beet is hard to kill. It is a forgiving food.
Pull it from the ground, repot it, and it will continue
to grow greens that will feed you.
