Re: Insomnia and muscle twitching

Existing digestive problems tend to be amplified or increase during the hormonal changes that occur while going through menopause (see more details on that subject in my book Timless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation). These are a few points to oconsider:
1. Make it a habit to go to bed during the Kapha time, before Pitta time starts (10pm). If you go to bed during Pitta time which makes more energy available to the body, or if you are awake, to your mental activities, you may have trouble going to sleep. Besides, melatonin secretions will be low, a brain hormone you need to fall asleep properly and sleep deeply.
2. Avoid eating or drinking anything after 7pm. Otherwise, your digestive system may keep you awake by trying to deal with any undigested food.
3. Avoid foods that have stimulating effects, especially in the evening, foremost of all, meat, fish, eggs, poultry, cheese, sugar, sweets like choccolate (caffeine); also avoid alchohol which has a dehydrating effect and keep you up.
4. Eat your main mail at lunch time, and your lighest meal in the evening to avoid fermentation and putrfaction during the night, enough to keep you awake.
5. Cleanse your liver to increase bile secretions, and remove toxins from the blood that can keep you awake (see The Amazoing Liver & Gallbladder Flush). You need plenty of bile to properly digest and absorb minerals like magnesium and calcium. A magnesium deficiency can put your nervous system on edge and cause insomnia and muscle spasms. If you use a mineral supplement, use ionic liquid minerals versus inorganic ones, and/or eat green leafy vegetables. In most cases, though, the problem disappears once the liver bile ducts are clean.
