Family And Fasting And Going The Distance

That is when I knew, I am really fasting now--I am going the distance.

This afternoon I found myself squeezing enough lemons and limes to last me the rest of today and probably tomorrow (1 cup) so we will se how many lemonades that makes. That is when I knew, I am really fasting now--I am going the distance.

I feel better than good--not great. I can feel myself losing weight (I have lost and gained enough times in my life that I know what it feels like), I feel empty (in a very good way), and still so glad I am finally doing this again.

My mom is here now. She drove up last night to pick up my baby sister. They will be staying for the weekend and then heading home on Sunday. My mom said, "I am amazed at what a good mood you are in since you are fasting." I smiled at her and replied, "I am in a good mood now, because it is the fifth day...I wasn't in such a good mood two days ago!" Anyway my mom was very impressed with the last fast I did so she is supportive of this one. She too, will be glad to have her hard bodied daughter back.

As for me I am not fasting as a fast way to lose weight (that is a nice side effect however). I am fasting because I am an impulsive eater, sometimes overeater, sometimes binger depending on the day, week, month, year. And I found it impossible to only quit eating some foods because I was just so impulsive about it--the cookie would be in my mouth and then I would remember I didn't want to be eating that. I realize I have to come up with a post-fast plan if I am going to stop impulsive eating altogether. I do it when my life is out of control--so a big part of healing myself is going to be about discipline and doing things routinely.
