Neurontin is an antiseizure drug that for some reason blocks the pain receptors in the brain that causes nerve pain. There are many antiseizure drugs available older and newer. Gabapentin is the real name and lYRICA Is another. If you research anti-siezure medication for nerve pain there is alot of information. Prior to the neurontin I was bedridden with pain. The pain is still very debilitating however; I am able to cope a little better. I am unable to reach the recommended dose due to side effects with me. I believe most people tolerate these two fairly well. Do you have a neurologist? My family doctor prescribed this medication and allthough I hate the side effects it really saved my life.
